AAPS Journal Themed Issue

The AAPS Journal is compiling a themed issue entitled “Nanotechnology in Complex Drug Products: Learning from the Past, Preparing for the Future.” The issues aims to discuss characterization, manufacturing, and regulatory challenges in nanotechnology drug products. NCL’s contribution to this collection, “Early Development Challenges for Drug Products Containing Nanomaterials” has just been released online. The manuscript describes five keys areas for consideration when evaluating early stage nanomedicine candidates: 1) starting material characterization, 2) surface modifications, 3) nanoparticle stability, 4) drug release in biological matrix, and 5) immunological testing.
